1. Wassamaaa'i zaatil burooj
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
By the sky containing great stars
The Constellations
1. Wassamaaa'i zaatil burooj
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
By the sky containing great stars
2. Wal yawmil maw'ood
وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
And [by] the promised Day
3. Wa shaahidinw wa mashhood
وَشَاهِدٍۢ وَمَشْهُودٍۢ
And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,
4. Qutila as haabul ukhdood
قُتِلَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
Cursed were the companions of the trench
5. Annaari zaatil waqood
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
[Containing] the fire full of fuel,
6. Iz hum 'alaihaa qu'ood
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌۭ
When they were sitting near it
7. Wa hum 'alaa maa yaf'aloona bilmu 'mineena shuhood
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌۭ
And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.
8. Wa maa naqamoo minhum illaaa aiyu'minoo billaahil 'azeezil Hameed
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,
9. Allazee lahoo mulkus samaawaati wal ard; wallaahu 'alaa kulli shai 'in Shaheed
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ
To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness.
10. Innal lazeena fatanul mu'mineena wal mu'minaati summa lam yatooboo falahum 'azaabu Jahannama wa lahum 'azaabul hareeq
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.
One of the many practices taught by Islam is that its followers should begin their activities in the name of God.
The character of this surah is that of a prayer. The prayer begins with praise of the One to whom our prayer is addressed.
